In this important scene in the play, Romeo tells the Nurse
to tell Juliet to invent some reason that will enable her to go to the cell of Friar
Laurence that very afternoon, so that she and Romeo may be married. In addition, Romeo
tells her that Peter, Romeo's servant, will meet them behind the abbey wall in an hour.
Thus it is that the plan is hatched for the secret wedding of a Capulet and a Montague
that will of course have far reaching consequences for both of them and indeed for their
families. Of course, the Nurse and Peter are both true to their word and fulfill their
instructions to the letter, ensuring that these two "star cross'd lovers" are united,
albeit temporarily.
