A tin can's diameter is 5 inches and it's height is two more than three times the diameter . Find the volume of the tin can.

Given that the diameter is 5
in.

The height = two more that 3 times the
diameter.

==> h = 2 + 3*d = 2+ 3*5 = 2 + 15 =
17

Then the height = 17
in.

Now we need to find the
volume.

We know that the volume of the cylinder
is:

V = r^2 * pi *h   where r is the radius and h is the
height.

==> r = diameter/2 = 5/2 =
2.5

==> h=
17

==> V = (2.5)^2 * pi * 17 = 106.25*pi
in^3

Then, the volume of the can is 106.25*pi
= 333.79 in^3
