Since this is a drama class, I would focus the paper on
the unique aspects of staging and characterization in this play. The play takes place
over one day, with one night, for example. This leads to unique opportunities and
challenges.
You can also focus on themes of the play, and
consider it the same way you would in a literature class. Since the play is about
suicide, how about looking for ways that the playwright justifies suicide in the play?
You could also compare it to a play representing suicide in another culture. Another
question you could consider is why people make sacrifices for
love.
Finally, one last way you could pick a topic is to
consider what struck you the most when you first read the play. It is always easiest to
write what we are passionate about. Think about what the play made you consider or
reflect on, and you’ll have a good topic.
