We are given that (x+1), 3x, (4x+2) are in A.P. As they
are A.P., consecutive terms have a common difference.
So 4x
+ 2 - 3x = 3x - x - 1
=> 4x - 3x + 2 = 2x -
1
=> x + 2 = 2x -
1
=> 2x - x = 2 +
1
=> x =
3
Therefore if x = 3, (x+1), 3x, (4x+2) are
in A.P
